Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the only superstar to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become an international icon of pop culture. Swift let go of the influences from her country music like they were an extra layer of skin. She revealed that she was one of the finest singers/songwriters from her time. Swift could make the occasion personal, or use the moment to benefit. It was apparent in her earliest songs especially on the neo tribute to Tim McGraw. On her 2nd album, Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to know her. Fearless became a massive success not just in America with six singles have been certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across the globe. Swift was able to consolidate her popularity through Speak Now almost two year following. She grew in popularity over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift became a household name within the genre she was a part of. She stayed on top of the charts even when she dropped her signature style in her twin albums Folklore and Evermore in 2020.
