Ariana Grande-Butera,/,a.ri'a.n@ 'gra?ndeI/AReeAH-n@ GRAHN,day;[note 1,] born June 26, 1993) is an American artist, actress and singer. Her vocal range of four octaves and her signature use of the whistle register are highly acclaimed by the public and reviewers. Grande has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards and one Brit Award. She also took home three American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and nine MTV Video Music Awards.


Grande began her career in music when she was just 15 years old. She was in the Broadway musical 13 (2008 Broadway). Grande rose to stardom as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's television series Victorious (2010 - 2013) and Sam & Cat(2013 2013 - 2014). Grande signed with Republic Records in 2011 after management of the label viewed YouTube videos of her covering songs. The 1950s-doo-wop-inspired R&B and pop debut album, [2] Yours Truly (2013) was a hit and landed in the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's voice and her whistle on the album drew immediate comparisons to Mariah Carey.


In her third and second studio albums, My Everything (2014), and Dangerous Woman (2016), she explored pop and R&B. My Everything tried EDM, and was a huge success thanks to the hit singles "Problem", Break Free and "Bang Bang" in addition to Dangerous Woman was her first of four consecutive top ten albums released in the UK. Personal struggles led to the trap-infused fourth (2018) and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018), which were both commercial and critical successes. Sweetener earned her the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next was nominated for the Album of the Year and set the record in streaming for the biggest pop album. The singles "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break Up with Your Girlfriend I'm Bored" have made Grande the first solo artist to hold the top three spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first female to be able to compete in the top spot of the UK Singles Chart. Grande broke the Hot 100 record for the most number-one debuts with Justin Bieber's collaboration in 2020 "Stuck with U" with Lady Gaga. The latter earned her the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande took on trap music with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) with the result that both the album's title track as well as the album's first single debuted at number 1 in the UK. Grande worked with The Weeknd to remix "Save Your Tears" and made it her sixth US number one single.
